Replaced thermal imaging cameras used for search and rescue in non-fire incidents.
Imagine being able to find people who are lost or in danger—even in the dark or behind walls! That’s what thermal cameras help rescue teams do. People’s bodies give off heat, so these cameras can spot them in forests, mountains, collapsed buildings, or even on top of cold water. If someone is trapped under snow or stuck in a car at night, thermal cameras can help rescuers find them quickly. Coastguards use them to spot people in big lakes or oceans. These cameras also keep rescue teams safe by showing fires or other dangers before anyone gets too close. Some cameras are even attached to drones and send live video back to headquarters so everyone can work together. With thermal cameras, finding and helping people is faster, safer, and more effective than ever.
The QRCF has funded the ongoing replacement of these vital safety tools for multiple years to help the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Department in their important work protecting our community.
